Tuesday Night Kids Club!
Every Tuesday night from 5-7pm at the Virginia Bible Chapel is Kids Club for children from kindergarten to sixth grade. We have a Bible lesson, games, crafts, prizes and other fun activities. A nutritious dinner will be provided. For more information or if you need a ride, call Daniel and Priscilla Triestman at 218-780-4692.
3/13/17- Time for our annual Kids Club update: The last year has been a blast at the Kids Club. We have seen almost 100 different kids come through in the past year! Most weeks we have about 30-40 kids. We had our annual "nerf gun war" a few weeks back and our making plans for our upcoming annual pillow fight. The weather is starting to warm up so we are spending a lot more time outside. We have been going through Mathew 5 during our lesson time and encouraging the kids to memorize verses for extra points. There will be no Kids Club on March 28th, but we plan to be back to business as usual the following Tuesday Night.
3/8/16 -It has been a while since we updated everyone on the Kids Club. This week was pretty crazy. We had over 40 kids out. (I can't give an exact number because the only time they are still and quiet to get a count is during the Bible lesson, and I was busy then). Several of the children went swimming in the puddle in the parking lot. We had some bead crafts and got outside for some football -Eveleth vs Virginia. We finished up Luke 18, looking at the blind man's faith in realizing that Jesus was the Christ, "the Son of David." We asked the kids the same thing that Jesus asked of the blind man -"What do you want (from Jesus)? Because of pokey eaters we did not get everyone to the prize box, so hopefully more kids will read ahead in Luke 19 so we can clear out some prizes next week.
2/11/14 -This week we had quite a large group at the kids club. We spent a delicious dinner time eating chicken nuggets and grinding handfuls of grapes into the freshly shampooed carpet. Game time, again, consisted of 45 minutes of chasing each other around the chapel. We had a good lesson as we learned why it was important that Jesus had both human and Godly lineage to bring together both God and man. We gave out a lot of points this past week as a number of kids answered questions and brought out friends.
9/10/13 -The first week of Kids Club was a blast! We had spaghetti (which Adrianna smothered with hot sauce) and ice cream (which Mason smothered into the carpet). We also played some Kids Club dodgeball. We looked at the first four verses of Luke 1. We learned how even though Luke may have never met Jesus, he set out to study who Jesus is so that he could know the whole story. We were challenged to do the same thing -study out who Jesus is so that we can "know the whole story." Next week we hope to look at Luke 1:5-24. (Five points for anyone who reads the passage before next week). Current points: no one has any points as they spent them all on prizes the first week.
9/17/13 -We had another great week at the Kids Club! We played some fun "getting to know each other" games (where we learned that Priscilla and Boaz did not know anyone, and most everyone else did not know their left hand from their right). We also played some dodgeball (which Gracie and Ava confused with hide and seek). Special honors go to Daisey who was so good at dodging that the ball could bounce off her 10 times before it actually hit her. We also looked at the prophesy over the birth of John the Baptist and learned that even though Zechariah was righteous and religious he still needed the same thing we all need -faith in what God tells us. Remember to read ahead for next week. (Current points: Hadassah 10, Isaac 11, Boaz 4, Adrianna 2, everyone else spent their points on prizes).
9/24/13 -This week at the Kids Club we played some more dodgeball and ate pizza. We also played some "hide and seek." (We are hoping that Ava turns up soon). We read about the angel appearing to Mary to tell her that she was specially chosen of God and learned how, unlike Zechariah, Mary did not seem to fear the angel and believed what she told of God. We talked a little about how faith and obedience can make it so that you don't have to be afraid of God. Next week we are planning a "Nerf Gun" battle so be sure to bring your Nerf weapons. And remember there are points for reading ahead in Luke!
10/1/13 -This week at the Kids Club we brought out the Nerf Guns and went to battle. No injuries, except my ego. (Every time I made it into enemy territory to capture the prize Max jumped out of nowhere to take me out). We ate some stromboli with a side of at least two green beans each. We also spent some more time in Luke chapter one looking at Mary's song to the Lord. We saw how even though Mary may not have been priestly or wealthy she was chosen by God to receive one of the greatest honors ever -to be the mother of Jesus the Christ. We wondered why God might have chosen Mary. Bobby suggested that it was because of Mary's great humility. Don't forget to read the next section of Luke. Five points will be awarded to anyone who reads ahead and is able to recall something about what they read.
10/8/13 -For those of you who were worried that we went an entire week without playing dodgeball, have no fear! After a brief hiatus, we returned this to pelting each other with fluffy balls. Once again, I relied heavily on the assistance of Daisy and Maximum Power to carry our team to victory. Some of us ate delicious chili and corn bread, while others preferred to load their bowls with hot sauce and spend the rest of the night crying (Boaz, Adrianna and Mason). We spent some time reading about the birth of John the Baptist. We saw how God is able to work in the hearts and lives of His people to teach them of the need for faith.
11/5/13 -It's been a few weeks since we gave an update on the kids club. Last week we had an especially lively night. Priscilla treated us all to leftover-candy cookies which had the remarkable effect of taking even the most mild mannered children and giving them the ability to climb walls. Despite the simultaneous sugar rushes, we had a really fun lesson learning about how even as a baby Jesus showed Himself to be God's special "Salvation" to the world. Be sure to read ahead and bring friends for next week. We were finally able to restock the prize bag and need to unload the old sugar to make room for the new toys.
